Young People are the focus of all our work at Sentinus, our aim is to ensure that young people across Northern Ireland have the opportunity to explore STEM through activities, workshops and projects. We want to embed youth voice throughout Sentinus, ensuring their voices are heard, acted on, and contribute to the future of the charity.
In 2025, we want to recruit up to 8 young people, aged 14 – 18, to become the first Sentinus Youth Board. We will meet throughout the year to discuss Sentinus activities, providing their own insights into the STEM curriculum and how we can support in-class learning. The Youth Board will be able to build their networks, develop skills and even manage their own event or project.
We are looking for students aged 14–18, with a passion for STEM subjects, who are proactive, enthusiastic, and eager to make a difference. As members of the Youth Board, students will:
- Attend regular meetings over the course of 12 months.
- Contribute ideas and provide input to guide our charity’s activities and initiatives.
- Gain unique insights into STEM careers and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with peers from across Northern Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, broaden their horizons, and make meaningful contributions to the STEM community.
Meetings will be held in person, at the Sentinus offices in Lisburn, and online via Teams. Members of the Youth Board must attend the first meeting in person and at least one other meeting in person. Travel to meetings and any other events throughout the year will be reimbursed.
If you would like more information or have any questions about the Youth Board, please contact Beth at beth.harrison@sentinus.co.uk
Students must have parental consent to be a Youth Board member and must be able to attend the first meeting plus at least one other meeting in person.
If you have applied, we will contact you to let you know the outcome of your application by the 17th February.
Applications for 2025 are now closed.
