Digital Makers introduces young people, from 16 – 18 years old, to the excitement of digital technology, computer programming and digital media within a business contextIt gives participants hands on engagement in digital creativity, innovation and practical experience of digital technologies, including computer programming, in business and aims to inspire the next generation of innovators and developers. 

Sentinus are partnering with Newry Mourne & Down District Council to engage eight post primary schools across the area.  The programme is aimed at aged 16-18 year olds and will be supported by ambassadors from the IT sector, which will guide students through the process of designing, developing, building and promoting digital products designed to meet a business, social or personal need.  Students will present their products in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style pitch to industry experts with awards being presented to recognise achievement and excellence.

Digital Makers Key Features 

Digital Makers represents an important mechanism for inspiring the next generation of young digital developers, entrepreneurs and business leaders, giving students: 

  • An introduction to digital media and computer coding within a business context; 
  • An opportunity to develop digital projects based on a business/personal or social need; 
  • The chance to meet role models from local and global companies; 
  • A forum in which to pitch their business ideas to panels of experts from the ICT sector. 

Registrations open on Monday 23rd September and close on Wednesday 9th October. 

Registrations will be on a first come first served basis. 

In school workshops to take place in November and students to continue their project with support from local ambassadors until March 2025. 

Final Dragons Den style pitch to take place end of March 2025 – date and venue TBC.
